Things to come
Chapter 3 ends this Monday, closing what has ended up to be the prologue of the Robomeks storyline. I finally have the characters where I wanted them to be and after more than 70 pages done in the last four months I think I’m back into shape, I’ve got a better understanding of the webcomic medium and overall it has made me a better person. Well, not quite.
As you may know already if you’ve read the previous posts I’m rethinking some aspects of Robomeks. Nothing that will change anything drastically, but there will be changes.
First, the website will be redesigned. Finally. It’ll be simpler and nicer. The most obvious change you’ll notice is that the latest page will be displayed in the home. I’m not releasing 6 pages a day since November, so there’s no need for a fix to that page spam I wanted to avoid back then and that lead to the actual way of accessing the pages (you know, go to the home, click the latest page link/image).
Second, Robomeks (the characters) will start their transition from a new, quite anarchic, company to something more pro now that they have some cash and quite a bunch of experience on their field. That’s something I wanted to happen in this exact moment in their story from the beginning and I just have emphasized it. For instance, you’ll finally get to see Robomeks wearing the same uniform. Yes, even Ace. There will be other minor cosmetic changes, all of them tied to the story.
And third, the page format is going to change from a vertical to an horizontal one. That doesn’t mean the pages will have less panels, though. Cutting a normal page of Robomeks in half would just artificially slow down the story, which I don’t want to. Same content, just horizontal. So far it looks quite good and allows me to test some neat compositions I wasn’t able to before. It also makes the header, page and banner fit in a single screen without having to scroll on a 1024 monitor resolution, which is something I wanted to achieve.
Right now I’m working on a few wallpapers (finally!). They’re quite fine and dandy, if you ask me. I’ll put them available to download in the following weekends.
And, as a final note, with the new redesign and revision of everything Robomeks I feel confident enough to advertise this thing without feeling particularly embarrassed. So, expect to see some Robomeks ads around (finally, again!). Hopefully, that’ll help to attract more readers.
That’s all for now. See you soon.
