If our antagonist only has one kind of this bug, and it unlocks a progression towards sentience, it hasn't been long enough to have gotten as far as say the robotic bandmembers did, yet. This is perhaps a minute. That leaves the possibility that a bot that works around nanotech requires nonstandard steps to interface with. Maybe our robot fiddler has more than one kind of bug. The robot anarchist's conundrum: attack the locking system to hurt them more now, or reanimate and try to hurt them later. Could go either way. Might it be too easy if it did?
