Hmm. Monday is going to be interesting. Why? Well, it’s going to answer some fundamental questions about just how those spiders operate. Are they injecting signals to force the motor drives to work as they want them to? Are they hacking the brain of the robot? Do they work universally? If it can… that’s pretty major. A nearly universal security exploit.
I have a feeling I’m going to be proven wrong, but my money is on it doing nothing but freaking him out, giving an opening. Rationale: The arm’s controller should be a simple converter, decoding normal voluntary motor neurons and translating to motor motions…. In short, it’s too stupid to hack.
I’d love to answer now, but I’m afraid I’ve used all my spoiler slots for this part
But, well, you’ve covered almost every possible answer, as usual, which gives you little margin of error. It’s pretty likely that you got it right, if partially, with one of your options.
Anyway, when the time comes I’ll post a line that’s missing from the actual iteration of the story-board. I’ve rewritten the sequence of the confrontation between that guy and Ace several times, and some info has been replaced for other I thought was more relevant or made the scene flow better. That said, I allow my pages to change up to the very last minute (even after that), so I might consider providing more information about this particular subject in a revision. I think we all are wondering how those spiders work after all. In case I decide not to implement this information here, the epilogue for this part will provide some background for this particular character that I think will help to understand some things that might look confusing right now.
I do realize that covering every possibility is somewhat cheating when predicting, from my perspective it was more me thinking a-text about the situation as presented.
